Advanced Course in Reading a Chart
In the Foundations Course you learnt how to combine the components of a single aspect and to read that meaningfully for a person.
The Advanced Course in Reading a Chart builds on that understanding and shows you how the aspects in a chart come together to describe a complete person. We do this through understanding the way stories work, for we live our lives in story. By recognising aspects as characters that have their own needs and drives, you will be better placed to see how parts of the chart are reacting to the world and to help it focus its energies in a more productive way.
The Advanced Course in Reading a Chart teaches you how the aspects in a chart come together so that you feel confident in reading a chart with clarity and insight. The Course consists of 4 x 1 hour video lectures packed with chart examples that step you though the points you need to understand. Also there is extra downloadable support material (PDFs) provided.
Course Content
LECTURE 1 introduces you to the concept of story. Stories work through pitting two people with opposing desires against each other to cause tension. These tensions can be seen in the aspects of a chart and understood through story. This lecture covers how this can be applied to reading a chart to give a greater understanding of what someone is going through.
LECTURE 2 covers the importance of reading the astrology of the chart and not the biography of the person, how much can be understood by recognising each aspects-as-character’s struggles, and how differently the aspects of the chart can be read when placed across different houses.
LECTURE 3 covers the way characters in stories are given choices and translates this into the challenges found within the chart, asking the question, ‘Under pressure how does each character function?’
LECTURE 4 covers the many options of where to start when reading chart and how to bring the whole chart together.
Studying the Advanced Course in Reading a Chart
You engage with the Advanced Course in Reading a Chart online from your own computer – PC or MAC, or you can use your iPhone or iPad. Once you enrol you will instantly gain access to the school. Software
We will be using the astrological software, Solar Fire, for all examples given in the course, but you can use any astrological chart- calculating software.

Dr Darrelyn Gunzburg
The lecturer is Darrelyn Gunzburg who holds a PhD from the University of Bristol. Her research examined the astrology and cosmology contained within the Salone fresco scheme of the Palazzo della Ragione in Padua, c.1309. She also holds a BA (Hons) degree in History of Art from the Open University, UK and a Diploma of Directing from NIDA (Sydney Australia). Prior to her life in the UK, she worked as an award-winning playwright in Australia, including the Samuel Weisberg Award (1990), twice nominated for an Awgie Award, and an Awgie winner in 1991.
